Vintage, art deco style, iridescent purple glass pitcher and 6 glasses. "Aramis" pattern pitcher and glasses from the Dunbar Glass Co. of West Virginia. Tall, slender, pitcher with long, sleek, handle. Glasses flair out at the top giving them a dramatic, and somewhat futuristic, look. Often referred to as the "Rings" pattern because of the rings that run from top to bottom on both the pitcher and glasses. Made by Dunbar Glass. Ca. 1940s.
Dunbar Glass Corp. was in business from 1923-1956. After the depression, and throughout the 1930s, Dunbar prospered and grew. By the 1940s, Dunbar was a major producer of glassware, selling in department stores like Bloomingdale's and Macy's.
Dunbar became known for their blown glassware, which was lightweight and well designed. The blown glassware was produced in numerous single colors and often had an iridescent finish. Some pieces were produced with multi-color finishes, and a few had a satin finish with gold or copper rings.
Set is in pristine condition. No chips, cracks or scratches. Amazing for its age and light weight.
